Kanchipuram Silk Sarees The History of India Sarees

A kanchipuram saree is a traditional Indian saree got its name by weavers from Kanchipuram located in Tamil Nadu, India. It is also known as Kanjivaram Saree. These are woven naturally and distinguished by their wide contrast borders. Temple borders, checks, stripes and floral are traditional designs found on a Kanchipuram sarees.

Basically, it’s the single threads of silk yarn and zari are used to weave a kanchipuram Saree. The weavers use pure mulberry silk, while making kanchipuram sarees. Silk is manufactured in the state karnataka and the zari used in sarees comes from the state Gujarat and weaving process is done in kanchipuram.

The three main parts which define saree itself are body, border and pallu. One more unique thing about these sarees is that the design of the border and body are usually quite different but are in contrast.  In case, the shade of the pallu is different from the border and body, it is woven separately and then carefully attached to the saree.

Kanchipuram saris vary widely in cost depending upon the intricacy of work, colors, pattern, material used like zari, etc. The silk is also known for its quality and craftsmanship, which has helped earn its name.

Even today, it has a great stand in the market where women love to wear silk saree. With the help of modern instruments of manufacturing it gets a beautiful touch which makes it even more beautiful.
